Re: Patch 11.1
I don’t think it’s a bug. 99% of them are critters, there’s one small area with roaches and these rats, which come in brown and black, are flagged tameable. I doubt they’ll make them untameable, we have rock mice so they’ll stayWerebearGuy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 8:37 pm They better not unflag the rat. I will be so justifiably mad if they do. Do your part and DON'T report it as a bug. It ain't a bug!

Re: Patch 11.1
So glad to see the kaja'mite shale spiders in already!
The bomb crab was a surprise, since I initially thought it looked a bit low res in the model viewer, but it looks not too bad in your screenshots, so hopefully it's intended.
Is pet spec switching in yet? I only just got home from work and my client updater has been in "initializing" phase for ages :/

Re: Patch 11.1
I'm all for a clever and fun taming trick, but that one was always buggy and time consuming. You could spend an hour just to get a piece of meat and then have it fail to work for no clear reason :/ It needed to go.
Are there any other taming tricks that are particularly bad now? Like, Legion taming tomes locked behind enormous chains?

Re: Patch 11.1
I excitedly went to check that first thing today and it is!!! It's real!!! I was trying not to get my hopes up in case we were just misreading the patch notes somehow and it was really just some feature meant for the MM changes, but they genuinely gave us pet talent choices again (albeit only at a Stable Master apparently, so you can't do it on the go, but hey I'll take it!) I posted screenshots on the other thread about Pet specs somewhere
This probably doesn't count as a trick tame, but recently on a new alt I created I realized how frustrating some of the zoning issues are like Molten Front, where the rares just don't even start their spawn timers until people are populating the area long enough, which is -never- for content that old unless someone is intentionally camping for a tame.
At the end of the day, camping out for a rare isn't that hard or unheard of I suppose, but I just feel the way those timers work and the way the zone phases are implemented with this active/inactive thing is a bit detrimental to really old content that includes rare tames.

Re: Patch 11.1
Regarding the rat and bomb crab, I really do hope they don't Fun Police us. These were very clearly things players wanted, and I know one person who is absolutely brimming with happiness for the rat. Would hate to see him lose all that happiness. The bomb crab isn't THAT low res in the game either; I play on absolute max settings at 1080p, and unless I am zoomed in, there's barely zero evidence of it being low resolution. At a passing glance, it looks perfectly normal, which also surprised me. I was worried it'd lose quality when scaled up, but surprisingly it looked great. Better than some extremely low-resolution pets that were critter models scaled up (coughpandariagrubscough).
@ Second Wain Post:
Excuse the language, but HELL YEAH GOOD RIDDANCE. Taming panthara was the worst. I hate grinding out that meat, so this is an absolutely welcome change. As for other taming tricks, I do think that after 2~ expansions, gated tames like feathermane, undead, direhorn, and so on should just be applied to the account. Most of them already do apply at the account level, so there's really no reason to leave them in. In the current expansion, those methods are fine, but several years later? Ain't it, chief. Lesser Dragonkin should be the only one that still requires a little grind right now, only because it's still somewhat fresh. After TWW though? Just apply it globally for everyone who still doesn't have it. Also, make every unlock account-wide. Aren't some of them still per character? That's dumb if so. At the very least, make everything account-wide unlocked. I don't know what isn't, if any, but I'd be annoyed if I put in the work on my main only for an alt to not be able to tame things I earned the right to tame.
I fully agree with Veph on the Molten Front rares. Those rares not spawning unless someone is there is just kinda dumb. Regular timers are fine, requiring participation in well content over a decade old just to enable spawns isn't.
