Phew, I was worried monkeys would've lost their spot as the family with the least looks for a hot minute there! Hopefully grimlynxes are indeed whiptails; I don't see why they wouldn't be, despite very clearly looking feline in design.

I disagree with grimlynxes being in the whiptail family. It’s still early alpha so who knows where they’ll end up. Here’s my take on why they shouldn’t be there. They are a natural animal that looks like they are native to harandar, they have clubbed tails, and they don’t look like they could emit any magic and could teleport. Sure they both share the same skeleton. They are the cat I want to tame most this expansion. Im not saying to move them now since we aren’t sure where they’ll end up, but I’m just pointing out how it doesn’t make sense, aside from an animation standpoint

They are definitely whiptails.

They are very different to the standard whiptail, but I know they're being classed there. So think of them as a distant, less distorted, cousin

My only wish is for the tusk geoset to be switched off so they don't resemble a druid form.

I feel like the tusks are too important to remove. They'd look naked without them. Grimlynxes feel like primitive felines, similar to smilodon and other saber-toothed beasts. Considering they're very likely related to Haranir in some way, these things likely deal with plants as their primary food source, so having those tusks means they have both a weapon for fighting and a tool for tearing away the inedible parts of their prey. That's just how I see it, anyway. Regardless, if they stay whiptail or get moved to cats later, they're still a wicked cool addition.

I thought the tusks were part of the reins on the mount model but it turned out to be straight up saber tusked. I really like the white one, but all the other colors are cool too. I know whiptails are going to be kind of broken at the beginning. It’s going to be the new go to pet for PvP for BM hunters since it has both mortal wounds and 80% slow for a second, but either they should extend the buff time or make it a root

I think you're vastly underestimating one second, especially in pvp. One second is all it takes for a straggling ally to catch up and unleash hell on a weakened healer. One second is all it takes to keep a dangerous DPS far enough so they can't charge, sprint, or otherwise close a gap to secure a kill. One second can be the difference between you escaping and you being dead. I'm not big on pvp, but I very well know what it's like being one second too late in fast-paced combat. Extending the slow past one second would be far too strong, as would it being changed to a root. Imagine being slowed by 80% for more than a second; wouldn't that be frustrating? As for the root, that would be even more broken because that's full immobility, which prevents movement-related moves from working (I think? Been a while since I did pvp, so I could be wrong here). Plus, think of how our other pet slows work; 50% for 6 seconds. Crabs aside, our pets can apply that slow fairly often while being a nuisance, but 50% is manageable enough that you can still play the game. That 3k+ gladiator who decided to play in your random BG, chasing you down? A whiptail teleports to you and almost completely stops your movement, and now you're one-shot by that gladiator because he just needed that second to catch up. I don't think I need to explain why Mortal Wounds is a big deal, especially on a target that can barely move.

A bit of a wordy comment, but it's gotta be stressed just how crazy good this new family's abilities are. I honestly don't expect them to stay this strong for more than a few alpha builds. One second of near-immobility is an absolute death sentence if used effectively. Don't underestimate what can be done in one second! that's what she said

It'll be interesting to see. It's obviously to help BM be a competitive spec in PvP, which I'm told is dominated by SV currently.

(I mostly avoid PvP and when I do it it's for collectibles and I don't pay any attention to how to play it!)

Maybe the preference for SV will mean whiptails won't be regarded as OP as they might have been if SV had access to them, but I'm not sure.

Yeah it's definitely a toss up. BM may not be peak, but having a pet like this would definitely be good for trolling comps lol. Though to be fair, I don't see why they aren't split into warp stalkers and cats rather than a new family. Whiptails are literally just significantly better warp stalkers as it stands, even if they're a totally different model from established warp stalkers. I feel like this is the rylak situation once more.

If it doesn’t work out they could be the mana saber 2.0, I remember legion was about to have a exotic mana saber family, but it didn’t work out so they were moved to spirit beasts. Yeah they could have been warp stalkers, whiptails are what warp stalkers used to be but for BM only. On one side I still see them having their family, on another if it doesn’t work out, warp stalker is a good place

Eversong lynxes don't look as good as static models, wow. All the screenshots ingame make them look so much more vibrant. I'm still gunning for a red one asap, of course, but still.

The images are great, I’d love to see more soon! I just gotta say how great blizzard is by going an extra mile to add new lynxes for eversong that are faithful to the old model. We got new lynxes in tww and now a new model for Amani lynxes which have a fluffier mane than the arathi lynxes. If they cared less, they would have simply added tww lynxes and call it a day. I would of loved to see the silver lynx come in, but it’s all good, I want the gem head lynx now

So far, I'm aware of two new forms: Trigores and Mandragoras. As noted before, Mandragoras will require the skill to tame florafaun, but we don't know how to obtain it yet.

The electrified trigore is a special boss model, so it may not be tameable. Also, there will likely be more mandragoras than the ones in the pic below.

Seeing the mandragoras finally be in their rightful place brings me so much joy. Well, not yet, as their rightful place it at my side, but still lol. I'm gonna no-life hard enough to unlock those plants asap while I have an updated red lynx at my side. Midnight is gonna be good.

Although not lashers, I gotta say trigores are very cool looking. With the exposed teeth, the armored skin, the kaiju look all these creatures have bring me joy. I am happy this expansion gives us multiple hydra looks since that family needed some, soon enough magmorax will be mine too, but I’m pumped to have a mandragora and trigore in my collections

I'd love to see a red lynx out of the lower set of models. That marking is really handsome and it's a shame there's no red cat for it.

Six colours for each and the colours pretty much match between the models.
