Might as well.

Even if it makes it to the Cataclysm launch if they don't want us to be able to keep them they can easily remove them like they did with Garwal.
Also I remember in classic, the snakes from Zul'Gurub were tamable for a short time, later blizzard made all current tamed snakes unable to be fed thus they would eventually run away.

This seems like one of those mob they wouldn't let us keep anyway.

You know, call me crazy, but I think I may not keep Soriid. The more I look at the new models, the less I like them. I actually prefer the current silithid model more, regardless of whether the flea becomes the new ghost wolf or not. Why keep a pet if I don't really like it? I'd take Surge (my old yellow silithid) over one of those big things any day. :)

The differences are... Soriid and the other Silithids are not going to be a playable race (the main reason why) in a future expansion pack, AND Garwal was tamed using a split-second "clever use of a game mechanic".... I didn't see Blizzard removing pet Spirit Wolves, Croc Slimes, and the others from the game as pets.

Furthermore, good luck at actually posting a topic concerning this on the beta forums and have it actually get looked at (and god forbid... actually commented on) with a blue response.

I think everyone needs to calm down. Any official word on this right now could be changed at anytime in the future anyways.

If you think every hunter that sees the video of either Soriid or Haarka will run out and tame one (or both)... I would wager you might be wrong.

But that's the thing about Garwal.

If I remember right, we weren't using "Clever game mechanics." We were exploiting server lag into tricking it and keeping it like that. We were exploiting a bug, which was a a no. The other pets? Just a mistake on Blizz's part. We didn't exploit anything. Hence why they stayed.

I originally typed "glitch" where I typed "clever use of game mechanic", but I figured that saying it was a glitch might set someone off... so I typed what I typed and someone else called me on it. :P

Blizzard might have said it was a glitch or lag or whatever... but it came down to Blizzard not wanting hunters running around with Worgens as pets because of them being a playable race in the future. If you remember correctly this all went down a couple of months BEFORE Worgens were officially announced as a race.

Although... I wouldn't mind running around on my Orc hunter with a Gnome as a pet. BUT... I would have to demand my Draenai hunter to have an Undead as her pet. :o

I knew I was gonna find him dead when I logged in and saw a trail of dead bodies.. I just new it.. got there just in time to see the warrior do the killing blow.. AARRGGHHH.

Necromancy can really come in handy sometimes, Slickrock...

I think he's got a 16hour respawn, don't take my word for it tough.

Pfft... I did a search, Wowhead has a total of 4 comments on him. No info here either.

16 hours.. that means he'll be dead again tomorrow before I get home to find him, dangit.

Guess I'll go look for him on Naak's bass-akward's server, and see if he's there, and have Slick look for Soriid.

What I did was just camp out by the SilverDragon (add-on) icon for him on the map (I guess it is SilverDragon). Every hour or so I logged on a checked to see if NPC_Scan or SilverDragon would alert me... I also made a macro (/target Haarka) and spammed it while riding around the area. After a sweep of the area I logged back off.

Did this throughout day one... after doing it 5+ times he was there.

I did the same thing for Grunter... except it took me 4-5 days (I think) to nab him on my Alliance hunter... while my Orc got him on my second login on a different server.

I use silverdragon as well, very handy..."BOOOOOM!!!!" rare spotted! wakes me up fast!. Sorrid I found right away, Grunter took about 3 days with casual checking, and Haarka is still eluding me. though its good to have an idea of respawn timer.

What's Haarka's NPC code, so I can enter him in NPC Scan?

Yup and why did they remove the snakes? You seem to have missed the second part of my post.
Snakes were nothing special at all, but they removed it simply because they did not want us having it.

Sorrids new models are huge, even when tamed, they still haven't fixed the ghost wolfs dodgy animations. If they are going to let us keep these pets they would have to fix the scaling, but if they were going to do that they would probably just remove them instead.

Blues do read every post on the beta forums. Simply because a blue does not reply doesn't mean they haven't read it.

You are right in that anything could change, I highly doubt we'll be allowed to keep these guys though :(

Calm down... what? who isn't calm?
The snakes were not removed (or skin changed) by Blizzard. Just because you couldn't feed them and they ran away doesn't mean Blizzard removed them. If you had just put the snake in the stable you would still have him, and since pets no longer run away... It would be useless, but it would still be there.
The other mob I know that had this happen to them was the caged Ravager on Azuremyst Isle. You had to have a warrior who was doing the quest to let it out... and then tame it. It was unintended so Blizzard made it where it wouldn't attack players (PvP) and you couldn't buff it. I 'think' you might have not been able to Mend Pet on it too.

Garwal was the same way at first... He was fine at first then you couldn't feed him, but he didn't run away... and then he lost his skills, I believe.... also you could get the glyph (or was it a skill?) that when you use Mend Pent it increases happiness... after 3-4 days Blizzard realized that nerfing him wouldn't keep players from still using him.

Blues read the forums, I know this.... but unless a blue responds to a thread the answer can not be even guessed at on what they would actually say about the situation. You can make the best forum thread EVER asking a blue something, but if a blue offers no response then you might as well be treading water out in the ocean waiting for an answer.

I said calm down because at first everyone was like, "we should keep this a secret." and then people were like, "we should post on the beta forums and ask Blizzard what is the deal."
I get the impression that Blizzard knows that somewhere out there someone had tamed Soriid and Haarka BEFORE the actual skin swap even happened, so they should realize that when Cataclysm goes live those people would have the new untameable (for now) skin.

My main point is... Blizzard knows. Beta is beta. Things can change if Blizzard wants to change them. Beta is beta. TotalBiscuit and the guy who had the pet thinks the silithid came from Un'goro... or at least the guy said that to throw people off. Beta is beta.

The more you ask about... the more likely you'll get an answer you won't like.

BTW... in case you missed it... Beta is beta.

If Blizzard sees/has seen the video it's not like they wont know how players have gotten this "glitched" "Silithid". My favorite Collosus "Silithid" is the red one. Yeah, to those that have said this, these beasts don't seem like something that stupid Blizzard would let us Tame. If Blizzard lets us keep these "Silithids", I'd imagine, with a re-size of their huge form, that they'd more likely make them Tameable then "removing" them. And it was never said whether or not that Hunter that Tamed "Haarka" said anything to that British guy (Name?).

There is a way that Blizzard can "fix" them without too much effort. Just give the new silithid(s) on Cataclysm a new creature ID, and keep the ones everyone has tamed the original ID. Easy fix.

I hope they just resize them and/or make them tameable on Cataclysm. I am not that worried about it either way at the moment though. What will happen will happen. Life goes on.

Finally found Haarka, so I have him on one hunter, Soriid on the other, and time will tell what happens. Had to bid adieu to my Blueblood (Blue-Black Trex) for a while, since I also have Krush in the stable. But I must say, after chasing him for a while, and also doing pvp with a silithid on Naak, I'm getting kinda fond of them.
