The differences are... Soriid and the other Silithids are not going to be a playable race (the main reason why) in a future expansion pack, AND Garwal was tamed using a split-second "clever use of a game mechanic".... I didn't see Blizzard removing pet Spirit Wolves, Croc Slimes, and the others from the game as pets.
Yup and why did they remove the snakes? You seem to have missed the second part of my post.
Snakes were nothing special at all, but they removed it simply because they did not want us having it.
Sorrids new models are huge, even when tamed, they still haven't fixed the ghost wolfs dodgy animations. If they are going to let us keep these pets they would have to fix the scaling, but if they were going to do that they would probably just remove them instead.

Blues do read every post on the beta forums. Simply because a blue does not reply doesn't mean they haven't read it.

Calm down... what? who isn't calm?
The snakes were not removed (or skin changed) by Blizzard. Just because you couldn't feed them and they ran away doesn't mean Blizzard removed them. If you had just put the snake in the stable you would still have him, and since pets no longer run away... It would be useless, but it would still be there.
The other mob I know that had this happen to them was the caged Ravager on Azuremyst Isle. You had to have a warrior who was doing the quest to let it out... and then tame it. It was unintended so Blizzard made it where it wouldn't attack players (PvP) and you couldn't buff it. I 'think' you might have not been able to Mend Pet on it too.
Garwal was the same way at first... He was fine at first then you couldn't feed him, but he didn't run away... and then he lost his skills, I believe.... also you could get the glyph (or was it a skill?) that when you use Mend Pent it increases happiness... after 3-4 days Blizzard realized that nerfing him wouldn't keep players from still using him.
Blues read the forums, I know this.... but unless a blue responds to a thread the answer can not be even guessed at on what they would actually say about the situation. You can make the best forum thread EVER asking a blue something, but if a blue offers no response then you might as well be treading water out in the ocean waiting for an answer.
I said calm down because at first everyone was like, "we should keep this a secret." and then people were like, "we should post on the beta forums and ask Blizzard what is the deal."
I get the impression that Blizzard knows that somewhere out there someone had tamed Soriid and Haarka BEFORE the actual skin swap even happened, so they should realize that when Cataclysm goes live those people would have the new untameable (for now) skin.
My main point is... Blizzard knows. Beta is beta. Things can change if Blizzard wants to change them. Beta is beta. TotalBiscuit and the guy who had the pet thinks the silithid came from Un'goro... or at least the guy said that to throw people off. Beta is beta.
The more you ask about... the more likely you'll get an answer you won't like.
BTW... in case you missed it... Beta is beta.
