Deathmaw and The Razza MIA?

Unread post by Shade »

I've been looking for Deathmaw for awhile now so that I can tame him before patch 4.0.6, that way I won't have to be sharing the camp with others after his new lovely skin.

Can't seem to find him, and my last camp was about 9 hours patrolling his known spawn points.

Can anyone confirm that he is still in the game at this moment, or is he MIA?

Or perhaps has his spawn points changed in the live and I am not finding him because he is no longer near the Dreadmaul Rock?

Also I've taken a break for a bit and went to look for the Razza in Feralas. No luck finding him either. Any recent confirmation sitings on him?

I regularly swing by and peek at The Razza. He's definitely on live, though you might be looking in the wrong area! Where are you looking?

As for Deathmaw ,yeah. That's a harder one to find. I would swear I've seen him, but I can't prove it, and I haven't seen him since on live. Just on the PTR.

The Razza is fine. I just tamed him 2 days ago. You need to go to the spot where the "T" is in the word "New Thalanaar" on the map. He spawns admist a bunch of corpses up there. Seems to have about a 4 hr respawn time, as I accidentally killed him once, and came back around 4 hrs later and he was there.

I just found the Razza thanks guys! His new location is 84.5, 49.7.

I dumped my Numaroc for him as I like his upcoming color a bit more. :) And if I have to go back and get Numa again, he's an easy one as nobody is ever up there.

Still no luck on Deathmaw though. :(

From the sounds of the threads of late and his lack of presence on Wowhead, I believe Deathmaw's not on live right now, although obviously he's coming back in the patch. No head start on getting him, unfortunately!

I believe Deathmaw is suppose to be around in live, as i have seen him once while doing archeology in the area, but after many hotfixes i think they could be a problem with it spawning (like what happen to Aotona before).

I've been searching for him on more than one server for over a week now, so randomly one of my toons should run into it but no.

Also i've put in a ticket about Deathmaw and got an interesting reply. Sorry no screenshot as i only manage to read it before the server went down last nite. From the in game mail reply, basically the GM said they are unsure or not so knowledgeable on the behaviours of certain NPCs and suggested i check the forums (gave link to bnet forums) and fansites for more uptodate and accurate information. (not a word for word quote, but basically a summary of what was in the GM reply).

I think Blizzard is too busy at the moment with all the in game bugs to check :D

Safe to assume, we'll only see Deathmaw when 4.06 goes live.

Well, he's not up, so I guess I'll just do a complete sweep of the zone to see if any other rares are up (which I highly doubt).

EDIT: Nope, no rares are up. Looks like it was indeed the entire zone.

Yanno, from the looks of that wowhead shot, that REALLY confirms my worst fears.

Deathmaws spawn point is RIGHT smack dab into (and around) a well-known archeology site (I myself have dug there many times). Which means it's hard to tell now if he's really not live, or if he's just being killed by every NPCscaning archeologist who flies that way.

I did a pass of Burning Steppes on my death knight since she was out there doing archaeology and it revealed no rares, not even the magma giant that used to spawn out there. =(

If that ping on wowhead's map is a true spawn point of Deathmaw, it's in the middle of a bunch of dragonkin as opposed to the worgs of the area. Seems kinda odd to me.

I'll check the zone again later on my hunter.

I haven't seen him in that marked spot on the PTR. I've only seen him in more usual spawn locations, closer to the rock.

I know wowhead's map info can be a bit wonky. I looked up Ashtail on there since I was in Loch Modan and just wanted to see if he was up, and it listed his actual location as well as two other really wonky ones--one by Gosh-Haldir and one in the mountains down south. Makes me wonder if people with NPC_Scan and the wowhead client have the map ping people's pets or something.

When I flew over it, I saw a few of the Ember Worgs patrolling that spot. Kinda just walking around it, so it's not too inconceivable that he could walk/path around there. However, I haven't seen hide nor tail of Deathmaw for days now, and Burning Steppes isn't that populated on my realm at any part of the day.

I don't think that _NPCScan has old world rares preloaded - you have to make the entries yourself by looking up the NPC ID#.
In other words, far more trouble than your average archaeologist would ever go to.
