My thinking too. I don't think they'll get rid of any, otherwise new hunters would never be able to tame them, and that wouldn't be right.

Well, i've decided to take the plunge and go tame a bear, as they are the only easily grabbable tenacity pets around my level.

This actually does not work, much I hate to be the bearer of bad news. With the exception of maned lions, all pets seem to have a female base, meaning that they will always become female when cursed by the Wetlands mobs.
